Yesteryear (Poem)

The city dweller of past happiness
Roaming through the day in regret
Ponds fill with unforgiving rocks
The throwing arm never tires

Clouds of doubt linger overhead
Bursts of tears find their way
Shadows stalk and observe
Lonesome has no company

Bags weigh down shoulders
Mistakes are never let go
Faces unmasked in honesty
Naked in facing the truth

War, never peace of mind
Constant struggle in endure
Pale in continued existence
Faint at heart, of what remains

Weak in spirit, unwilling power
Depleted in essence, dying soul
Fading footsteps are apparent
Walking backwards on the spot
